Random Poem

So... here's a random poem. Because everyone in my poetry class is supposed to turn a poem in to this random poetry thing... but the parameters are that it can only be TWENTY-ONE lines long. That's just stupid. But I just wrote this. And it's twenty-four lines long. But I can cut out four for this random poetry thing. But... Yeah. Here you go.

Death:
In the end we all will see him, walking toward us with his scythe
The Grim Reaper, clad in black, come to collect his final tithe
He never speaks a word, as there is nothing to be said
For the pervading air is silence in the world of the dead
He turns and walks away, and you follow in his path
You dare not break the silence for you’re fearful of his wrath
You wonder at this stillness that muffles every sound
But you keep your eyes before you, for you dare not look around
So you trail the Grim Reaper, cloaked in dark with hooded face
And it seems as if the two of you are all that walk this place
The journey is so long, and yet it could not take much time
For in this land the minutes have no reason and no rhyme
But soon you stand before the gate that leads to Heaven or Hell
And then at last the Reaper speaks, with voice like tolling bell
Here my journey ends for such as I cannot pass on
For I serve only darkness and can never see the dawn
And then you turn and see his face and something deep inside
Is shattered by the agony that deathly face must hide
You wish that you could touch him and erase all of his pain
But his form is ethereal to your touch; your efforts are in vain
So you are forced to turn away and pass through that last gate
And leave the dark Grim Reaper as a captive to his fate
In the end we all will see him, walking toward us in our death
So may we offer him a gift and smile with our last breath

And there you have it. Because I couldn't think of anything else to write.

Yay, you posted on your blog!!! I like your logo thing. It looks cool! Your poem was very well-written (though somewhat morbid, admittedly). Yeah, that twenty-one line thing is pretty lame. Good luck on the random poetry thing! You seem to be participating in a lot of contest-y things lately...I've been entering contests, too. I entered that Junior Duck Stamp thing, and yesterday I entered a few drawings in the fair. You know what's weird? Even though it's just the Yuma fair, it costs money to go to it! Cache County Fair didn't cost money...Yuma has fancier fair grounds, though. Fair is a really big thing here. Anyway. That wasn't really related to your post. So. Yeah. Thank you for posting on your blog!

. . . Gee, that was cheerful. And, erm, why twenty-one lines? That seems kind of a random number, although it can be divided by seven . . .
